A photograph almost never just happens. However, a moment happens —unexpectedly! It’s the first glimpse that begins the journey and following the photos below will give you a sense of how I “travel”.
I was invited to Christmas at the Cathedral concert in 2019 and they handed out candles to all the participants. My first image “captured” was of the candles lit all down the pew. I could have went that direction. I considered the glow upon people’s faces. Then I focussed in on just my candle.
You can see the progression of trying to capture a moment worth sharing. The first is clearly not it; neither is the second, but I see something in the all black background. When I finally get a good shot of the flame, the blue appears likely from the production happening. Then at last, the final photo is CAPTURED! However, it took many additional photos in between the ones shown here.
I have enjoyed sharing some of my better work. And make no mistake it is work. A work of love I guess, but it’s worth it when I contributes something to the world that makes people see beauty!
